We ate lunch
at a mexican restaurant by the river. There were lots of birds.
In back of us is the Riverwalk. It goes [loops] through downtown.

Here is a picture of us at the
restaurant. The water from the river comes from a aquifer 180 miles
long and 30 miles wide. An aquifer is an underground lake.
[That's us just above the tour boat]

Ok, so why the picture of our waiter, John, you ask? John was so excited when he heard of our travels that he spent a lot of time talking with us. He plans on traveling for several months this summer up to the Northwest. We look forward to receiving e-mail from him. Ed |
This is the Riverwalk.
It goes around downtown in a big circle [along the river]. There
are lots of restaurants on the sidewalk. [This walk and the river
are one story lower than the street level.]
Max |
Here's Cheryl and Max as we ride
one of the tour boats on the river around downtown and up some of the side
canals. San Antonio is unique and very enjoyable.
Ed |
Here's
one of the many old bridges that cross the river. I haven't been
to Venice to know what it's like, but I certainly didn't feel like I was
in the middle of Texas.
Ed |
Here's another unique one. The
trunk of this tree is inside of the building. This area is filled
with lots of shade trees. Many of the trees are hundreds of years
old.
Ed |
This is the mall.
From here you are able to see the boats pass by.
Max You can also sit along the river
and listen to Peruvian flutists perform.
|
This is us under a road by the
river. The sidewalk has stores and places to eat. Upstairs,
on the street level, there are more stores.
Mitch |
Here is the Alamo.
We were there on February 23. That is same day Santa Ana's army arrived
in 1836.
Max |
This is the Alamo.
We went to a nearby mall and saw the IMAX film, "Alamo". We were
not allowed to take pictures inside the Alamo. We saw old swords,
canons, clothes and the fort.
Mitch |
Here Mitch and Max are looking
over a series of timeline displays that chronicle the activities from 1500's
to the present . Although static displays are often boring for them
they seemed to like this one.
Ed |
Here's another
one for all of you in Washington state. If you are not from Washington
and don't know the significance of this picture you will when you visit
there.
Ed |
Not only are the gas prices low, but a six pack of tall ones cost less too. (I wonder if I can bill them for this ad?) |
